President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s son-in-law Selçuk Bayraktar filed a lawsuit against journalist Şirin Payzın, who criticized the “lack of transparency” regarding the sale of drones and armed drones and asked questions to Ahmet Kamil Erozan from the İYİ Party within this context on February 16, 2022, and Halk TV, where Payzın’s program was broadcast, and demanded 150 thousand Turkish Lira (TRY) in damages.
In the petition submitted by Bayraktar’s lawyers to the Bakırköy 7th Civil Court of First Instance, it was alleged that “the personality rights of Bayraktar were damaged and he was insulted by the news contrary to the truth” (April 1).
