Soner Yalçın, the grant holder for the online news portal Oda tv, and its managing editor Barış Terkoğlu are accused of “attacking personal rights” due to the articles giving details of Prime Minister (PM) Binali Yıldırım and his two sons’ off-shore accounts in Malta.
Yıldırım’s lawyers sued the Oda tv editor and executive, asking 250.000 TL for the Prime Minister and 125.000 TL for each of his sons; a total of 500.000 TL in compensation for “non-pecuniary damages”.
The case against journalists were dropped on June 28 due to the extent of press freedom.
