The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed an administrative fine on Halk TV on the grounds that its broadcast was against the Law no. 6112 on the Establishment of Radio and Television Enterprises and their Media Services. The broadcaster was fined over Levent Gültekin’s “remarks about former Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan, who was respected by society” during the “İki Yorum” (Two comments) program. The other reason for the fine was that Merdan Yanardağ alleged on the same program that Ünal Osmanağaoğlu, who lost his life nearly seven years ago, was assigned as an executive at the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Congress and that the sub-band of the broadcast read, “Elected as an executive of the MHP today, Ünal Osmanağaoğlu is the murderer of Kemal Türkler” (March 31).
