In almost two months 4 different High Criminal Court filed 14 cases in one week, with the same allegation against Ziya Çiçekçi, the former publisher of the shuttered pro-Kurdish daily Özgür Gündem.
The cases involve accusations of “propagandasing for a terrorist organization [PKK]” (TMK 7/2) over columns or news stories published in the Özgür Gündem daily. Seven trials against Çiçekçi were filed on March 14; five on March 15 and two more on March 21.

The 16th hearing in the trial of journalist Ziya Çiçekçi on the charge of “terrorism propaganda” was held at the Istanbul 33rd High Criminal Court on 20 September 2024. No one attended the hearing. The trial was adjourned for a future date (September 20).
