A court found Çiçekçi guilty for “propagandasing for a terrorist organization [PKK]” (TMK 7/2)and sentenced him to three years and nine months imprisonment on January 17.
In almost two months 4 different High Criminal Court filed 14 cases in one week, with the same allegation against Ziya Çiçekçi, the former publisher of the shuttered pro-Kurdish daily Özgür Gündem.
The cases involve accusations of “propagandasing for a terrorist organization [PKK]” (TMK 7/2) over columns or news stories published in the Özgür Gündem daily. Seven trials against Çiçekçi were filed on March 14; five on March 15 and two more on March 21.
The 15th hearing in the trial of shut-down Özgür Gündem newspaper’s licensed publisher Ziya Çiçekçi on the charge of “terrorism propaganda” (TMK 7/2) at the İstanbul 33rd High Criminal Court was held summarily upon the lawyer’s presenting excuses and was adjourned (3 May).
