The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed a fine of program suspension for 5 times and a monetary fine by 5 percent on Halk TV on the grounds of “broadcast that would serve the purposes of terrorism” due to the “Sözüm Var” (I Have a Word) program where it was criticized that a father was given the bones of his deceased son in a bag. The RTÜK also imposed a fine of 3 percent on the channel on the grounds that Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu was “humiliated” on Ayşenur Arslan’s “Medya Mahallesi” (Media Neighborhood) program where Arslan and economist Mustafa Sönmez criticized his approach to fight against crime. Also, the RTÜK imposed a 3-percent fine on Halk TV because of CHP MP Ali Mahir Başarır’s criticism of “narco-state” on “Sözüm Var” program where he was a guest (September 14).
