İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against Alican Uludağ on the grounds that he criticized it as “unlawful” that the arrest of journalists Barış Pehlivan, Barış Terkoğlu, Murat Ağırel and Hülya Kılınç was reviewed without their knowledge. As part of this investigation for “insult”, Uludağ gave his statement on March 5, 2021 (March 5).

A lawsuit has been filed against Alican Uludağ on charge “insulting a public official due to his or her duty.” Demanding 1 year to 2 years, 4 months in prison for the journalist on the offense charged, the indictment has been accepted by the İstanbul 49th Criminal Court of First Instance (June 3).

The İstanbul Criminal Court of First Instance ruled that Uludağ should be acquitted as the elements of the offense charged as per Article 125 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) had not been constituted (August 3).
