An investigation was launched against journalist Yılmaz Özdil on charge of “insulting the memory of Atatürk” due to his Twitter posts. As part of this investigation carried out by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, an instruction was sent to the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Upon this instruction, Özdil and his attorney İsmail Yılmaz went to the İstanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. Özdil dismissed the charges, saying, “Kemalists do not insult Mustafa Kemal Atatürk” (April 2).
