Aygül took the ruling to the appeals court. The appeals court reversed the 10-month prison sentence of the journalist, but it sentenced him to 5 months in prison on another charge (June 9).

With his prison sentence for reporting on the sexual abuse of a child upheld, journalist Sinan Aygül was sent to prison on June 30, 2021. Aygül was released on probation a day later, on July 1 (July 1).
