Having lost his life in an armed attack in front of his house in Suadiye, İstanbul on March 7, 1990, journalist Çetin Emeç was commemorated at his grave in Zincirlikuyu on the 30th anniversary of his death. 10 years after the murder, Islamic Movement organization executive İrfan Çağrıcı and four people were convicted of killing Emeç, his driver Sinan Ercan, writer Turan Dursun and Iranian regime dissident Ali Akbar Gorbani. However, Çetin Emeç’s spouse Bilge Emeç said that she did not believe the real perpetrators of the murder were caught (June 9).
