At the final hearing held at the Sincan Penal Institutions Campus, the Ankara 19th High Criminal Court handed down its ruling regarding the raid on the state channel TRT building during the attempted coup on July 15, 2016. Former Colonel Tanju Poshor, who led the raid, was sentenced to life imprisonment aggravated twice. The ruling was given in the trial of 497 defendants over the incidents at the Presidential Guard Regiment. Former Lieutenant Colonel Ümit Gençer, who made the presenter read out the coup declaration on TRT, was given an aggravated life sentence for “violating the Constitutional order” (April 7).
