Serhat Albayrak filed against Evrensel’s Managing Editor Görkem Kınacı and Grant Holder Kürşat Yılmaz. Albayrak filed a complaint on charges of “defamation” (Article 125) and “slander” (Article 267) regarding the headline “Deep Silence” published in Evrensel on the subject, the news article titled “The bribery network in the stock market reached all the way to the Palace” and the article titled “Peker revelations based on the Palace cannot be cleared with a brave prosecutor”. The first hearing of the case will be held on 7 March 2023, at the İstanbul 2nd Crime Court of First Instance (December 6th).

The trial in which  Kınacı and Yılmaz are being prosecuted was held at the İstanbul 2nd Crime Court of First Instance. The hearing was adjourned until 16 January  2024  (March 7th).

In the September 12th hearing of the trial was held at the İstanbul 2nd Crime Court of First Instance.  After the defense, the prosecutor was asked for his opinion. The hearing was postponed until January 16, 2024 (September 12th, 2023).

The prosecutor gave his opinion and requested that some statements in the news be tried under the crimes of “defamation” and “slander”. The hearing was postponed until March 19 (January 16th).

The fourth hearing of the case was held at the Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. The case was postponed until April 25 (March 19th).

The fifth hearing of the case, scheduled for April 25, 2024, was held on file due to the Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance judge being on leave. The hearing was postponed until September 19, 2024 (April 25th).

The sixth hearing of the case was held at the Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. It was decided to review the file, and the hearing was postponed to January 21, 2025 (September 19).
