The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) concluded the individual application submitted by Habertürk TV former Editor-in-Chief Abdullah Kılıç in March 2017.
Finding the arrest and pre-trial detention of Kılıç “without evidence and arbitrary”, the Court concluded that Turkey violated his right to personal liberty and security and freedom of expression under the Articles 5 and 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The Court ruled that Turkey should pay Kılıç a total of 13 thousand 375 Euro in damages, 12 thousand 275 Euro of which in non-pecuniary damages (February 2).
