An investigation was launched against journalist Medine Mamedoğlu on September 17 for “publicly disseminating misleading information” (Turkish Criminal Code 217/A) due to her reports and social media posts following a fire that broke out between the districts of Mazıdağı (Mardin) and Çınar (Diyarbakır) in June, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people (September 17th).

The Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a decision of non-prosecution regarding journalist Medine Mamedoğlu, who had been investigated on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” (Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code).
