Journalist Oktay Candemir was detained for attending a press statement held in Van on 19 December concerning the killing of journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin in Northern Syria. The police intervened in the gathering. A total of 55 people, including 10 journalists, were detained. Oktay Candemir faces charges of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911.”
