The Bitlis Journalists’ Association announced that during a press conference held on 15 August, Tatvan Mayor and lawyer Mümin Erol issued threats and insults against the Association’s president Sinan Aygül. It was reported that the threats have continued two months after the incident. The Association stressed that these threats constitute a direct attack on press freedom and journalists’ duty to inform the public.
