An investigation has been launched against journalist Fatoş Erdoğan on charges of “incitement to hatred and hostility” (Turkish Penal Code, Article 216) over her social media posts.

On 12 September, Erdoğan stated that she was called by the Cyber Crimes Unit while following the trial of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in Silivri, and that she would testify at the Vatan Police Department on Monday.

As part of the investigation, Erdoğan gave her statement, noting that “three video news reports I shared from in front of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Directorate have been made the subject of an investigation for ‘incitement to hatred and hostility.’”
