Kayhan Ayhan, an editor at BirGün, was summoned to testify by the Press Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for reporting on student protests that began following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on 19 March and sharing related content on social media.
In his statement, Ayhan said, “I am a journalist. I covered the incident in the public’s right to be informed as part of my duty to inform society.”
