An investigation was launched against Kayhan Ayhan, editor at BirGün, for reporting on the detention of Dokuz Eylül University students S.V. and O.G., who were arrested in İzmir for writing boycott slogans on a shop wall.
Ayhan testified at the Anadolu Courthouse in Istanbul with his lawyer and stated, “I am a journalist. I reported on these detentions in the public’s right to be informed.”
