Journalist Soner Yalçın was summoned to give a statement as part of the investigation into Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. He was taken from his home by police in the early morning and brought to the Istanbul Police Department. He was questioned about his social media posts and whether he had received money from İBB officials, based on claims by a secret witness named “İlke.” Yalçın denied the allegations and was released under a travel ban.
Other journalists questioned as part of the investigation include Şaban Sevinç, Ruşen Çakır, Yavuz Oğhan, and Batuhan Çolak. Aslı Aydıntaşbaş was abroad and therefore not questioned.
