Journalist Fatih Portakal is standing trial along with Barış Terkoğlu, Barış Pehlivan, Can Bursalı, Gökmen Karadağ, Doğan Akın, Nevzat Çiçek, Can Özçelik and Ayşenur Arslan on charges of “public insult” (Article 125 of the Turkish Penal Code) and “defamation” (Article 267) due to allegations in the book Metastaz 2: Cendere. The trial was initiated upon a complaint by Mustafa Doğan İnal, the former lawyer of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

At the hearing, the court decided to request clarification from the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office as to whether the audio recordings cited in the book had been examined.

At the hearing, the court ruled that Ayşenur Arslan be brought in by force as her defense statement had not yet been taken. The next hearing was adjourned to 30 April 2026.
