The X (formerly Twitter) account of journalist Furkan Karabay was blocked from access in Turkey on 16 May 2025 on the grounds of “protecting national security and public order.” The restriction came shortly after Karabay was arrested on 15 May under the “disinformation law,” based on his posts on X and a video he produced on YouTube. The platform restricted visibility of his account only within Turkey.
