Can Taşkın, Editor-in-Chief of CT Haber TV and Managing Editor of CT Haber in Nevşehir, was arrested on 1 September 2025 over two pieces he wrote alleging the existence of a “protection racket list”. He was first taken into custody for an article titled “Who Is Extorting Money in Nevşehir’s Name?”, published on 31 August, and a news piece titled “Extortion List Allegation in Nevşehir! President and Minister’s Names Used”, published on 1 September. The Nevşehir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office charged him under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code for “publicly disseminating misleading information”. On the same day, he was referred to court and formally arrested. Police searched his home and workplace, confiscating some digital materials.
