Journalists Zeynep Kuray, Mahsum Sağlam, Pelin Laçin, Yadigar Aygün, and university student Yağmur Filiz stood trial before the 39th Criminal Court of First Instance of Istanbul for attending a press statement in Şişhane commemorating journalists killed in Syria, facing charges under the Law no. 2911 on Assemblies and Demonstrations. During the hearing, the journalists recounted the police torture they were subjected to during their detention. The court lifted the judicial control measures imposed on the defendants and exempted them from attending the hearings. The next hearing was scheduled for 8 May 2027.
