Nokta magazine was shut down due to its cover entitled “November the 2nd: The beginning of Turkey’s civil war”.Its directors, including the chief editors Murat Çapan and Cevheri Güven were sentenced to 22 years and 6 months of imprisonment in the case in which they were being charged with “provoking the citizens to engage in armed revolt against the Government of the Turkish Republic” at the 14th High Criminal Court in Istanbul.
The court acquitted them on the charges of “propagandising for a terrorist organisation”.
The manager for Nokta Magazine, Murat Çapan was arrested on May 24, 2017 by the 14th High Criminal Court in Istanbul.
