Chief editor of daily Özgürlükçü Demokrasi Yılmaz Yıldız and managing editör İshak Yasul have been sentenced to ten months of imprisonment each for “propagandising for a terrorist organisation [PKK] through publishing its statement via press”. At the second hearing Istanbul 36th Criminal Court, the court board said that the statement published by Özgürlükçü Demokrasi contains violence and sentenced each of the two journalists to one year of imprisonment in November 2018.
The board then reduced the sentence to 10 months of imprisonment for each journalist and suspended the pronouncement of the judgement.
