Upon the request by one of the lawyers of President Erdoğan, Mustafa Doğan İnal, a lawsuit was launched against managing editor of SoL News Portal, Uğur Güç for insult upon the request by one of the lawyers of President Erdoğan, Mustafa Doğan İnal.

At the hearing held at the 29th Criminal Court of First Instance of Anatolia on 11 February 2020, it was alleged that the expression “swearer ” in the news titled “The court did what the swearer lawyer wanted: prison sentence to Işıl Özgentürk” was included within the scope of the charge of “insult”.

The judge has given time to both parties to present their evidence if any and make their defense upon the merits, adjourned the case until 4 May 2020.

The trial, which was supposed to take place on May 4, was postponed to 12 October due to the measures taken against coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic (4 May).

Put on trial on charge of “insulting a public official”, journalist Uğur Güç had his final hearing on November 17, 2020 and has been acquitted of the offense charged (November 17).
