The former parliamentarian and the editor-in-chief for Karşı newspaper, Eren Erdem was arrested in June 2018 on the grounds that he had reported on the corruption operations of the 17-25 December 2013 and  MİT trucks. 

In the trial launched by the 35th High Criminal Court in Istanbul, Erdem faces a prison sentence up to 22 years on charges of “knowingly and willingly aiding an armed terrorist organization as a non-member”, “revealing the identity of an anonymous witness” and “violating the confidentiality of the investigation”.
