Müyesser Yıldız, Ankara Bureau Chief for Oda TV has been standing trial on the grounds of “insulting a public official” following a complaint by the former Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar over her reporting.  Akar seeks compensation for 250.000 Turkish Liras is taking at Ankara 7. Civil Court.

The court ruled to wait until the judgment from the respective criminal case, adjourned the hearing to April 2, 2020 (7 November).

At the hearing held on July 9, the court ruled to inquire about the entry of judgment concerning the criminal case against Yıldız that was launched upon a complaint by Akar. The next hearing will be held on September 10 (9 July).

At the final hearing held on September 10, the court ordered Yıldız to pay 20,000 Turkish Liras in compensation to Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on the grounds of “insulting” him (10 September).
