On July 21, 2022, Diken news website published a news report titled “The mystery of communication faculty at Boğaziçi University”, where it was reported that the Communication Faculty of Boğaziçi University would not receive students in 2022, either, along with some other oddities about the faculty. Reported by Mehmet Baran Kılıç, the news report indicated that the faculty was not included in the promotion program of the university, no academics were appointed despite the job ad, the faculty was established for caderization, vice rector Gürkan Kumbaroğlu was occupying a position for nothing as the dean of the faculty and a legal action was taken against the faculty.
Following this news report, Boğaziçi University administration blocked access to Diken on the school’s server starting from July 22, 2022 (July 22).
