The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed an administrative fine on Halk TV on the grounds that the remarks of Levent Gültekin, who referred to a police officer by saying “So impertinent… Look at him. This is not what being a police officer is about. This means ganging up” during the “İki Yorum” (Two Comments) program, violated the provision of “Media services … shall not be contrary to human dignity and the principle of respect to privacy, shall not include disgracing, degrading or defamatory expressions against persons or organizations beyond the limits of criticism” (February 4).
