The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has imposed an administrative fine of 25,881 Turkish Lira (TRY) on TELE 1 TV channel over its program “Zamanın Ruhu” (Spirit of the Time), which was broadcast on December 13, 2020 and where journalist-writer Mine Kırıkkanat was a guest, on the grounds of the violation of the Article 8/1-m of the Law no. 6112, which says, “…shall ensure that the Turkish language is used in a proper, correct and intelligible way without undermining its characteristics and rules; shall not display coarse, slang and poor quality use of the language” (February 10).
