The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) considered the financial support that TELE1 acquired through its website to be “illegal acquisition by collecting aid and grants from the audience” and imposed an administrative fine on the channel. The other reason for the fine was the allegation that TELE1 did not abide by the broadcast ban imposed on the news regarding the killing of cardiologist Ekrem Karakaya in Konya (August 17).
