Yeni Akit Newspaper published an article titled “Turkey, Egypt, Brazil … I have an answer to every issue!”, on 01.07.2013. Upon a complaint, the Press Advertisement Institution decided to cut the official announcements and advertisements for 3 days on 09.09.2013, due to the use of phrases such as “pimp, bitch” for those who demand the resignation of the government.
Upon the objection of the newspaper, the Istanbul 1st Civil Court of First Instance examined the decision of the PIA as the arbitrator and decided to reject the objection on 27.09.2016.
The newspaper lodged an individual application to the Constitutional Court on 27.10.2016. TCC decided on 16.01.2020 that the decision did not violate the requirements of the democratic social order and that the freedom of the press of the newspaper was not violated.
