Barış Barıştıran, the former Managing Director and Executive Board member of the Özgür Gün TV, which was closed by a Statutory Decree, was indicted on charge of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization” on the grounds that the Extraordinary Congress of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) held in Diyarbakır province in 2016 was aired live. The indictment was completed on March 22, 2019 and accepted by the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court.
At the eighth hearing of the case held on March 16, 2021, the defense attorneys were present in the courtroom. Barış Barıştıran has been acquitted of the offense charged over the live broadcast of the DTK congress (March 16).
