Upon the criminal complaint of the Gendarmerie General Command, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation against Barış Pehlivan over his article “The shock squad of Menzil” published on daily Cunhuriyet on September 9. In his related article, Pehlivan mentioned the allegations of pulling some strings during retired veteran first lieutenant Erhan Kaleli’s oral interviews at the Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy and of some sects, especially Menzil, infiltrating into the gendarmerie organization. Pehlivan is facing the charge of “insult” as part of the investigation (October 24).
