Police officers battered Evrensel newspaper’s reporter Volkan Pekal, who was covering the press statement to be held in front of the HDP Adana Office in Çukurova on November 21, 2022 in protest against the Turkish Armed Forces’ (TAF) airstrikes targeting northern Syria and Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government .

Pekal was pushed and battered by the police in the commotion that ensued. Though he said that he was a press member, police officers did not let him out of the commotion. A police officer threatened him, saying, “We know who you are” (November 21).
