The Press Advertisement Institution (BİK) officials called the Evrensel newspaper and told them that an ad in solidarity planned to be put on the urban weekend supplement was against the “Press Ethical Principles” and that the ad could not be put.
The ad was to be put by the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) Geomatic and Cadastre Engineers’ Chamber. The ad read: “Joining its voice with our struggle against the plunder of our cities, coasts and forests with projects of unearned income, Evrensel cannot be silenced! Solidarity Keeps Alive!”
BİK argued that the words “unearned income” and “plunder” were against the Press Ethical Principles (October 17).
