The Press Advertisement Institution (BİK) fined the BirGün newspaper by cutting its public ads for a period of 23 days in December 2020. As reported by the online version of the daily, BirGün has been fined by the BİK over a series of news reports about senior public officials, public institutions such as the Gendarmerie General Command and Directorate General of Security and non-profit organizations such as the Turkish Red Crescent (December 17).
