As reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA), Xwebûn newspaper editor Zeynel Abidin Bulut, in his letter from the Diyarbakır No. 2 High Security Prison, wrote that 16 journalists arrested in Diyarbakır on June 16, 2022, including Bulut himself, were not given Yeni Yaşam, BirGün and Evrensel newspapers. In his letter, Bulut also indicated that they did not have the opportunity to follow critical media channels and broadcasts except for radio broadcasts with a limited number of channels.

Bulut said that he wanted to subscribe to Yeni Yaşam, BirGün and Evrensel newspapers for September 2022, but his request was arbitrarily rejected and the prison administration verbally indicated that “those newspapers were banned”. Emphasizing that there was no decision of confiscation or ban on these newspapers, Bulut pointed at the arbitrary practice of the prison administration and said that the administration did not respond to his petition (September 6).
