A lawsuit was filed for non-pecuniary damages of 100 thousand Turkish Lira each against journalists Barış Terkoğlu and Can Bursalı and Independent Turkish, for the former attorney of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Mustafa Doğan İnal’s complaint on the allegation that his “personal rights were violated”. Journalists had written on the claims that İnal received a 15 million lira attorney’s fee from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).

In the first hearing held on May 12, the court decided to issue a warrant for information on how much attorney fee was paid for which lawsuit and on which date to İnal by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The next hearing will be held on September 13 (May 12).

At the hearing on September 13, 2022, the court adjourned the hearing until December 6 so that the deficiencies would be rectified (September 13).

At the hearing held on December 6, 2022, the court ruled that the case should be dismissed (December 6).

The file of another case filed on the grounds of journalist Fatih Portakal’s program with Barış Terkoğlu came to the court with a request for merger. However, Judge Ali Çalı rejected the merger request. The hearing was adjourned until July 4 (February 29).
