The Bolu Criminal Court of First Instance, with the decision dated 18 May 2017, sentenced journalist İmdat Aslan to a total of 7 thousand 80 TL judicial fines on the charge of “insult” through audio-visual messages due to his criticism against former President and Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç who has visited the shopping centre in Bolu which is associated with “the FETÖ”. The Bolu Criminal Court of First Instance transferred the case to the Regional Criminal Court of First Instance as the prosecutor found the punishment to be unfair in terms of his income.
