Yeni Akit Newspaper published an article on 16 January 2014 including several claims about Zekeriya Öz.

Upon the request of Zekeriya Öz Bakırköy 2nd Civil Court of First Instance ruled that the newspaper shall publish the reply and correction statement of Öz, in February 2014.

Meanwhile, upon the complaint of Zekeriya Öz, the Press Ad Agency decided to cut the advertisement and official ads to Yeni Akit for a day in its decision dated 7 July 2014. Yeni Akit objected to the decision, but the Istanbul 1st Civil Court of First Instance rejected.

The newspaper lodged an individual application to the Constitutional Court, claiming that the freedom of the press was violated. In its decision of 9 January 2020, TCC found that Yeni Akit’s press freedom was violated.
