İstanbul Anatolian 7th Criminal Peace Judgeship has banned access to the news report penned by journalist Hazal Ocak on Minister of Finance and Treasury Berat Albayrak’s purchase of land near the planned route of the Canal İstanbul project. Daily Cumhuriyet first reported on the purchase on January 20. It said Albayrak bought the land in 2012, about a year after the canal project was announced by then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Court’s decision imposed access ban to Leman cartoon magazine and bianet English edition’s articles regarding the purchase, as well.

A lawsuit is filed against Hazal Ocak in relation to the news article for allegedly insulting a public officer via press, on March 31.
