Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance convicted Coşkun for “insulting a public official” over a news story she penned in 2015 for the Cumhuriyetdaily and ordered a legal fine of  TL 12,600.

After the sentence was finalized she was taken into custody on May 10 and was released the next day after the overdue fine was paid.
