The Ankara 20th Criminal Court of First Instance ruled that Evrensel newspaper should pay 10 thousand TRY in non-pecuniary damages to Kastamonu University Rector Ahmet Hamdi Topal, who had filed the lawsuit over a news report covering the Court of Accounts’ reports about himself and requested 20 thousand TRY in non-pecuniary damages.
In the related Court of Accounts’ reports, it was indicated that Topal had appointed his cousin as a director and his friend from school as a vice rector. After the reports were covered by Evrensel, Topal filed a lawsuit for damages (December 15).
