Artı Gerçek news site writer Fadıl Öztürk was detained in a police raid carried out into his home in İzmir on January 5, 2018 on the grounds of a detention and search warrant issued for him for “writing articles promoting terrorism [PKK]”. Öztürk has been released on probation on January 9.
On October 2, 2018, the 2nd High Criminal Court in İzmir sentenced Fadıl Öztürk to 1 year and 10 months imprisonment for the case in which he has been charged with “propagandising for a terrorist organisation”. The prison sentence was suspended.
