The 5th High Criminal Court of Diyarbakıar, with the decision dated 16 May 2017, ordered the release of nine defendants, including DİHA reporter Mazlum Dolan, who had been arrested on 24 February 2016 and reported on the evacuation of civilians in the Sur district during the curfews.

At the hearing held on October 23, 2020, the court has ruled that if there is a request for the extension of the prosecution, this request shall be examined and, if not, the case file shall be sent to the prosecutor’s office for the preparation of the opinion as to the accusations. The next hearing will be held on December 8, 2020 (October 23).

At the fourth hearing held on December 8, 2020, after the opinion as to the accusations was presented, an imprisonment of up to 15 years was demanded for Dolan on charge of “membership in a terrorist organization.”

The next hearing will be held on December 22 (December 8).

At the hearing on December 22, 2020, Mazlum Dolan has been sentenced to 7 years, 6 months in prison on charge of “membership in a terrorist organization” (December 22).
