Ahead of the press conference to be held by the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) at the Cezayir Conference Hall in İstanbul on August 29, 2022, Elif Bayburt, a reporter for the Etkin News Agency (ETHA), was taken into custody as part of a court case filed in 2021 on charge of “violating the Law no. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations”. Bayburt was released from detention on August 30 after giving her statement (August 30).
