Journalists Nuh Gönültaş, Mehmet Gündem, Şule Büyükçizmeci and Bekir Özdemir were taken in custody on November 1, 2017 in the scope of the investigation into the now-closed Journalists and Writers Foundation, allegedly related to the FETÖ, launced by the Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Bekir Özdemir was released from detention three days after.
